White Sox Provide Injury Update on Garrett Crochet

Garrett Crochet missed the entirety of the 2022 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery last April. Entering camp on Wednesday, Chicago White Sox general Manager, Rick Hahn, laid out a timeline for Crochet's return to action.

According to Hahn, Garrett Crochet will not participate in Spring Training games and is expected to begin the year on a rehab assignment. Initial expectations are that Crochet will be back in the White Sox bullpen sometime around mid-May.

While he won't be participating in Spring Training games, the left-hander is in fact present in camp and throwing.

According to Scott Merkin, he is currently throwing two bullpens per week. A promising sign, considering Crochet is less than a year removed from surgery.

While Hahn stated Crochet won’t see any action during Spring Training, it appears he is willing to try to push that timeline forward as quickly as possible.

With uncertainty at the back end of the bullpen since Liam Hendriks' availability is in question as he battles non-Hodgkins lymphoma, adding Crochet back into the mix of late-inning options for Pedro Grifol is arguably a major key to success for the 2023 Chicago White Sox.

Crochet threw 54.1 innings for the 2021 White Sox and finished the season with a 2.82 ERA with 65 strikeouts, and 27 walks.

That said, it is also important to mention that pitching coach Ethan Katz has already insinuated that Garrett Crochet will be on an innings limit this coming season.
